Nicklaus Children’s Health System revolutionizes patient care with HealthGrid and Microsoft

Nicklaus Children’s Health System, the largest pediatric specialty center in Florida, wanted to improve patient engagement and streamline complex, paperwork-heavy check-in and discharge workflows while keeping care family-centered. To support this transformation, the health system partnered with Microsoft Corporation and HealthGrid, using Microsoft’s technology alongside HealthGrid’s Azure Mobile Engagement-based mobile patient engagement platform.

Microsoft Corporation helped enable a patient-first digital model that digitized registration, delivered care information through mobile channels, and supported predictive care with machine learning. After an 18-month pilot, NCHS reported that paperless registration saved $4–$8 per patient per visit, 93.95% of survey respondents found the digital communication helpful, about 75% of contacted patients engaged with messages, and HealthGrid-powered predictive care reached 97% accuracy in identifying emergencies 6–12 hours early.
