NetApp Enhances SAN Replication for Disaster Recovery with Site Recovery Capability

NetApp, a computer storage and data management company, faced a challenge as its customers using Hyper-V and System Center wanted better disaster recovery capabilities for multi-tier workloads. These customers lacked an easy method to orchestrate the replication and recovery of entire collections of virtual machines across sites for their critical applications.

Microsoft provided the solution with its Azure Site Recovery (ASR) cloud-based orchestration service. By integrating ASR with NetApp's SnapMirror replication technology, Microsoft enabled a comprehensive disaster recovery solution that offered orchestrated failover, efficient storage scalability, and non-disruptive testing of recovery plans. This gave customers greater flexibility and confidence in protecting their business-critical workloads on Hyper-V.
