A Microsoft Corporation Case Study
Nayland College, a medium-sized secondary school in New Zealand, faced a challenge with its existing IT systems. Its cloud-based Google Apps for Education solution had limited functionality and could not integrate with the school's student management system, failing to meet the needs of its teachers and students. Seeking a better solution, the school partnered with Microsoft and its partner pcMedia to transition to Microsoft Office 365 and Azure cloud services.
The Microsoft solution, implemented with pcMedia's expertise, was rapidly adopted by enthusiastic staff. It provided powerful tools like OneNote and SharePoint, enhancing teaching and learning through improved collaboration and communication. By migrating most services to the cloud with Azure Active Directory and Azure Storage, the school decommissioned nearly all its on-premises servers. Microsoft's solution resulted in an estimated NZD $150,000 hardware saving, allowing funds to be redirected into classroom technology, while providing a robust and cost-effective platform for the entire school community.
