Moodle on Microsoft Azure streamlines and improves institutional communications

Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, an educational institution in Argentina, faced challenges with its on-premise Moodle learning platform. The system struggled with demand peaks during critical times like exam periods, leading to resource constraints and risking service availability. To achieve greater scalability and flexibility, they partnered with Microsoft Corporation and migrated their platform to Microsoft Azure.

Microsoft Azure provided a solution that allowed the university to dynamically provision resources to handle traffic spikes, ensuring constant system availability. This auto-scaling capability also optimized costs by using minimal resources during low-demand periods. The successful migration, completed with a local partner, delivered a highly manageable infrastructure. As a result of this positive outcome, Microsoft Azure was also chosen to host the university's DSpace digital repository, with plans to migrate more open-source services to the cloud platform.
