Merrill Corporation, a long-time provider of secure document sharing for mergers and acquisitions and financial disclosures, needed to speed up product development and modernize its aging monolithic applications to keep up with rising digital expectations and cloud-native competitors. To address this challenge, Merrill worked with Microsoft Corporation and Pivotal Software, using Microsoft Azure alongside Pivotal Cloud Foundry and Azure services such as Azure Active Directory, Azure Key Vault, and Azure Storage.

Microsoft Corporation helped Merrill re-architect key products, including DataSite/DataSiteOne, into a microservices-based SaaS platform. As a result, Merrill now releases software daily instead of every five weeks, developed a new product version in under a year instead of three, runs about 20 times faster than before, expands into new markets more quickly through Azure datacenters, and expects to save millions of dollars by reducing datacenter costs.
