Malawi builds one of the world’s most advanced e-justice systems with Microsoft

The Malawi Judiciary and Directorate of Public Prosecutions faced the challenge of severe inefficiency and case backlogs, primarily caused by a paper-based system and a lack of existing IT infrastructure. To build a modern e-justice system, they partnered with Microsoft and its IT partner, Paraflow Communications, to implement a comprehensive solution based on Microsoft SharePoint Server.

Paraflow Communications engineered a national case management system using a wide Microsoft stack, with a custom Process Workflow Engine built on SharePoint at its core. This solution, integrated with other Microsoft services, streamlined the entire judicial process. The results were significant, with the new system supporting over 9,000 cases and processing 30,000 documents in its first six months, dramatically improving access to justice and transparency for Malawian citizens.
