Case Study: Petro Rabigh reduces datacenter costs with Microsoft private cloud

A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the Petro Rabigh Case Study

Major Saudi petrochemical company saves on IT costs by moving to Microsoft private cloud

Petro Rabigh, a major Saudi petrochemical company, was struggling with a legacy server infrastructure that was difficult to manage and costly to power and cool. To address these challenges, the company partnered with Microsoft Corporation to implement a modern IT solution.

Microsoft Corporation implemented a private cloud solution using Microsoft Hyper-V on Windows Server 2012 R2, managed by the Microsoft System Center suite. This new infrastructure dramatically reduced server provisioning times from months to hours, simplified management, and cut physical server count from over 100 to just a few racks. The solution resulted in significant cost savings, including a 20.5 percent reduction in datacenter operational costs through lowered power consumption and cooling needs.
