Loyola Marymount University - Customer Case Study

Loyola Marymount University sought to evolve its teacher education programs by better preparing future educators to integrate technology into the classroom. To meet this challenge, the university, in partnership with Microsoft, incorporated game-based learning into its curriculum using Minecraft: Education Edition.

Microsoft's solution involved integrating a dedicated game-based learning module into the university's "Learning and Teaching with Technology" graduate course. This allowed educators-in-training to learn the theory behind the method and then apply it by creating their own lesson plans in Minecraft. The implementation was notably smooth, requiring minimal training, and resulted in high levels of student engagement and creative demonstration of learning objectives, as exemplified by a graduate student who successfully used the platform to teach the water cycle in his own fifth-grade science class.
