Case Study: Norwegian Air Shuttle achieves global cockpit connectivity and efficiency with Microsoft Corporation Surface Pro with LTE Advanced

A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the Norwegian Air Shuttle Case Study

Low-cost airline soars by using Surface Pro with LTE Advanced as Electronic Flight Bag

Norwegian Air Shuttle, Europe’s leading low-cost carrier, needed a rugged, always-connected device to replace paper-heavy cockpit documentation with an Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) that would work reliably across varying international telecommunications standards. The airline chose Microsoft Corporation’s Surface Pro with LTE Advanced, along with support from Flightdeck, to meet the demands of its global flight operations.

Microsoft Corporation implemented Surface Pro with LTE Advanced to deliver eSIM-based global connectivity, a bright and responsive cockpit-friendly touchscreen, and durability for extreme flight conditions. The result was easier provisioning and management through Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot, improved pilot usability, and the elimination of 80 to 100 kilograms of paper per flight, supporting major fuel savings and sustainability goals across Norwegian Air Shuttle’s fleet.
