Louisiana city implements smart city technology to create engagement, transparency, efficiency

The City of Lafayette wanted to improve citizen services, increase transparency, and make government more efficient while moving toward a smart city model. To help shape that strategy, the city worked with Microsoft Corporation, using a solution built on Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Azure, along with tools such as SharePoint Online, Power BI, and telephony systems.

Microsoft Corporation and its partner KPMG Adoxio implemented the Velocity 365 platform to support a 311 non-emergency call center and broader government workflows. The city says the solution is already improving efficiency and transparency, streamlining internal processes, and better enabling services that enhance residents’ quality of life, with additional smart-city projects planned on the Microsoft-based platform.
