LG CNS - Customer Case Study

Microsoft partnered with LG CNS, a large IT services company in Korea, which sought to evolve its smart factory solution, ezUMS, beyond serving LG Group affiliates and into a scalable, global service product. The challenge was to efficiently collect and analyze vast amounts of real-time factory data to manage production and forecast breakdowns, moving from a traditional SI model to a cloud-based offering.

The solution was implemented using Microsoft Azure's PaaS, including Azure IoT Hub for data collection, Azure Service Fabric for a custom analysis tool, Azure Cosmos DB, and Azure HDInsight for data storage and processing, with Azure Machine Learning for predictive analytics. This allowed LG CNS to develop and deploy ezUMS in months instead of years, creating a scalable solution. The results enabled LG CNS to offer new managed services, such as real-time monitoring and failure prediction for clients like LG Chem, transforming their business model and creating new revenue opportunities.
