LEDVANCE GmbH, a leading supplier in the lighting industry, faced the challenge of rightsizing its massively oversized and unsuitable IT landscape after being spun off from its parent company. The infrastructure, designed for a different industry, was not prepared for digital transformation. With 85% of orders placed electronically, CIO Martin Wiedenmann needed a highly stable, integrated platform to migrate their complex SAP system and required a global strategic partner for implementation.

The solution was implemented with Microsoft Azure, with support from partner Techedge. LEDVANCE migrated over 60 SAP servers and 350 terabytes of data to the cloud in a step-by-step process involving rigorous testing. This allowed them to shut down 60 racks of hardware and two data centers. Microsoft's solution resulted in significant cost savings, as the company now only pays for the computing power it uses, and has created a leaner, more powerful IT environment poised for further cloud adoption.
