Case Study: Lucidity achieves lower database costs and faster deployment with Microsoft SQL Server 2016

A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the Lucidity Case Study

Leading New Zealand cloud company transforms hosted database market with all-in-one service

Microsoft Corporation customer Lucidity, a New Zealand cloud-services company, wanted to expand its market by providing a competitive, all-in-one database-as-a-service (DBaaS) offering to mid-sized businesses. Its challenge was to significantly reduce operational and licensing costs while simplifying its customer proposition by bundling hardware, software, and support into a single monthly subscription.

To achieve this, Microsoft, in conjunction with partner Terawe, provided a solution using SQL Server 2016 and Windows Azure Pack. This allowed Lucidity to create a streamlined, automated data-platform service. The results were dramatic; Lucidity reduced database deployment times from over four hours to under five minutes and cut its own licensing costs by 25 percent, enabling it to offer a premium managed service at an accessible monthly price.
