Continental Reinsurance, a pan-African reinsurer, faced operational challenges due to frequent power outages at its Lagos headquarters, which caused email loss and server downtime. To address these issues and improve functionality, the company sought a new platform and turned to Microsoft for a cloud-based solution using Office 365.

Microsoft implemented its Office 365 suite, which included Exchange Online, OneDrive, and SharePoint Online, to provide a highly available and secure cloud platform. The solution resulted in 99.9% email uptime, a two-thirds reduction in licensing costs, and ICT expenses that fell to 0.7% of revenue. Additional results included the creation of online workflows that cut process times by 50% and a new video conferencing system that significantly reduced travel costs.
