Large Italian bank has a strong future with Azure

Banca Carige, one of Italy’s largest retail banking groups, needed to modernize its IT infrastructure to handle rapid data growth, reduce costs, and strengthen disaster recovery and regulatory compliance. The bank worked with Microsoft Corporation, using Azure and Azure StorSimple in a hybrid cloud setup to improve service without sacrificing performance.

Microsoft Corporation, with implementation support from Softjam, deployed four Azure StorSimple instances and migrated 50 terabytes of data across the bank’s two headquarters. The solution improved availability, enabled geographic redundancy and cloud-based disaster recovery testing, and helped shift costs from capital expenditure to operating expense; Banca Carige also reported a smooth migration and better centralized management.
