A Microsoft Corporation Case Study
Kochi University, a large higher-education institution in Japan, wanted to strengthen student ICT use as part of its long-running laptop initiative and needed a device that balanced portability, performance, and a better mix of analog and digital learning. Microsoft Corporation, through the Surface Pro 4, was selected as the university-recommended PC to support this shift.
Microsoft Corporation implemented the Surface Pro 4 as Kochi University’s new 2-in-1 device for new students, backed by workshops, sales support, and service coverage. The result was strong approval from the university’s selection committee, with the Surface Pro 4 receiving twice as many votes as the other finalist, and about 70% of incoming students continuing to buy university-recommended PCs; students also praised the device’s usability, helping promote daily ICT use across campus.
