Klöckner & Co, a major steel and metal distributor, sought to pioneer a digital transformation and cultural change within its industry. The challenge was to create a new, flexible, and secure IT infrastructure to support a more open way of working for its 9,000 employees across 200 locations. To drive this change, they partnered with Microsoft Corporation and decided to implement a proof of concept using Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud services.

The solution from Microsoft provided a comprehensive cloud-based workspace, including Office 365 and advanced security features from its E5 suite. The implementation allowed for a rapid, company-wide rollout, enabling employees to set up devices from anywhere in under 30 minutes using Windows Autopilot. The results included a more secure environment, significant IT operational relief, and overwhelmingly positive feedback from employees. This successful migration has led Klöckner to commit to moving its entire company, including major business applications and SAP workloads, to the Microsoft Azure cloud.
