Japanese anime production studio utilizes open source on Microsoft cloud to host its website securely

Khara, a Japanese anime production studio, faced the challenge of its corporate website repeatedly crashing under sudden, heavy traffic spikes from fans seeking news about the Evangelion film series. This infrastructure instability disrupted its email service and diverted its small IT team from creative work. To solve this, the studio turned to Microsoft and its Azure cloud platform.

With the help of a partner, Microsoft implemented a solution using Azure App Service Web Apps to host the studio's WordPress site. This provided a scalable, trouble-free infrastructure that could instantly handle traffic surges. The result was a completely stable website, lower operational costs, and simplified data transfers for the production staff, allowing Khara to focus on its core business of creating animated films.
