Ithaca College foils cyberattacks with the comprehensive threat protection built into Microsoft 365

Ithaca College, a large U.S. higher education institution, needed to strengthen cloud email migration and overall security while protecting the identities, data, devices, and accounts of its students, faculty, and staff. Working with Microsoft Corporation and Microsoft 365, the college sought a more cost-effective, risk-informed approach to security amid growing phishing threats and compliance requirements.

Microsoft Corporation implemented Microsoft 365 Education A5 with Azure Active Directory Premium, Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection, Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection, Azure Advanced Threat Protection, and FastTrack services. The result was broader threat detection and response, including blocking malicious links and emails, automating incident investigations, and improving visibility into attacks; Ithaca College said it had “saved hundreds of our accounts from compromise” and reduced risk and hardware costs by moving remote document storage to OneDrive and SharePoint Online.
