International school uses game-based learning to raise student engagement and achievement

PaRK International School in Portugal wanted to create more engaging, immersive learning experiences and help students become collaborative, agile learners. To support that goal, the school worked with Microsoft Corporation, using Minecraft: Education Edition and Xbox-related game-based learning tools across the K-12 curriculum, while teachers explored new ways to connect gaming with classroom instruction.

Microsoft Corporation helped PaRK International School implement Minecraft: Education Edition in subjects such as history, geography, math, English, science, arts, and biology. The result was higher student motivation, stronger participation, and improved collaboration; teachers reported that students were more creative, paid better attention, and followed instructions more closely, while large projects like recreating parts of Lisbon showed the platform’s real-world learning impact.
