International airline streamlines cabin crew operations, reduces costs with mobile employee-engagement app

Philippine Airlines needed to modernize its paper-based cabin crew scheduling and shift-exchange process, which relied on couriers, caused delays, created compliance risks, and consumed employees’ time. The airline turned to Microsoft Corporation, using Microsoft Kaizala and Office 365 to improve mobile communication and scheduling across its large workforce.

Microsoft Corporation implemented a secure mobile notification and action-card solution in Kaizala, connected to SharePoint, so cabin crew could request and trade shifts quickly and management could approve updates in real time. The result was dramatic: schedule changes now reach employees in under 10 minutes, each change saves at least 10 hours per employee, paperwork dropped by 400 sheets per day, and the airline could save about USD 6,700 per month while improving security, efficiency, and employee satisfaction.
