A Microsoft Corporation Case Study
The Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) sought to equip its graduate students with hybrid computing devices that offered both the high performance needed for research and superior mobility for fieldwork. To achieve this while ensuring robust security and centralized management, JAIST partnered with Microsoft to select the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and implement the Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Suite.
Microsoft provided the Surface Pro 3, a high-performance tablet that could serve as a primary device, along with a comprehensive management solution using Microsoft Intune for mobile device management. This allowed students to work seamlessly from labs, classrooms, and dormitories. The deployment was a success, enhancing student mobility and collaboration. Furthermore, Microsoft’s Azure AD Premium and Azure RMS laid the foundation for future initiatives like secure cloud services and a lifetime ID system to engage alumni, strengthening the entire JAIST community.
