Iberia Express, a low-cost airline, needed a modern and scalable e-commerce platform to grow its business without the high costs of physical infrastructure. The company challenged its small IT team to quickly build a new online reservation system that was decoupled from its parent company's legacy systems. To achieve this, they turned to vendor Microsoft Corporation and its Microsoft Azure cloud platform and Visual Studio Team Services development tools.

Partnering with the Birchman Group and using Microsoft's solutions, the team built a new website with a continuous integration and delivery pipeline. The results were significant: Microsoft's tools helped reduce the required system administration staff from six people to the equivalent of one-and-a-half, and they cut the time to deploy new features in half. The solution also provided powerful business analytics through Power BI and ensured the airline's systems could scale efficiently to meet fluctuating market demand.
