Home care solution solves problems through the cloud and IoT

Konica Minolta, a digital company, sought to address Japan's shortage of caregivers in its super-aging society. They faced the challenge of reducing the heavy workload for home care workers and improving coordination. To tackle this, Konica Minolta turned to Microsoft and its Azure platform, utilizing services like Azure IoT Hub, to develop a cloud-based prototype for a home care solution.

Microsoft's solution, built on Azure PaaS, enabled Konica Minolta to develop a system that collects data from in-home sensors over a month. This provided caregivers with insights into the living routines of care recipients via tablets. The implementation allowed for tailored care plans and improved workflows. A user, Healthcare Corporations Komeikai, reported the solution successfully revealed user routines, which was an unexpected and highly valuable benefit for creating effective care strategies.
