Holland America Line - Customer Case Study

Holland America Line, a leading cruise company, needed a better way to analyze onboard revenue and guest behavior after its existing BI tools were cumbersome and relied too heavily on IT support. Using Microsoft Corporation’s BI software, including Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010, the company wanted to make data easier for business users to access and improve decisions that affect the guest experience.

Microsoft Corporation implemented SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services tabular models and a SharePoint-based BI portal, with support from Slalom Consulting. The result was a threefold increase in BI usage, faster self-service reporting for business users, more data-driven decisions to tailor offerings and boost revenue, and reduced IT workload and licensing costs by eliminating a third-party reporting solution.
