Health sciences university delivers connected student experiences across international campuses with Azure

Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), a global health sciences university with campuses across Dublin, Bahrain, Malaysia, and Dubai, was struggling with more than 10 different Moodle versions and uneven performance across locations. Students and faculty couldn’t always access the latest course content, and managing the fragmented virtual learning environment was becoming expensive. RCSI turned to Microsoft Corporation, using Azure to support its Moodle-based learning platform.

Microsoft Corporation helped RCSI consolidate Moodle content and infrastructure onto scalable Moodle clusters on Azure, with automatic scaling and enterprise-grade availability. The new environment improved access to up-to-date course materials, enabled single sign-on with other Microsoft tools, and delivered five-figure savings in operations costs. It also gave RCSI a highly available, high-performance platform and the ability to analyze student data for early intervention.
