Hafslund Nett, the Norwegian power grid operator serving 1.5 million people, needed a better way to handle rapidly growing smart-meter data and overcome the limits of its legacy meter-reading systems. The company also wanted to reduce dependence on externally managed software that was hard to update and scale, so it turned to Microsoft Corporation’s Azure platform, including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and related cloud tools, to build its own software.

Microsoft Corporation helped Hafslund Nett implement a containerized, Azure-based solution using AKS, Azure Monitor, Azure DevOps, and other services to streamline development, monitoring, and deployment. As a result, Hafslund gained a more reliable and scalable platform, improved security and performance control, and faster application delivery, while IT staff will save time managing the new systems and customers will benefit from higher reliability.
