Case Study: GoDaddy achieves faster Linux communications services migration with Microsoft Corporation .NET Core

A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the GoDaddy Case Study

GoDaddy ports communications services to Linux in six weeks using .NET Core

GoDaddy, a large U.S. cloud platform provider for small businesses, faced the challenge of modernizing its communications offerings after acquiring FreedomVoice in 2016. It needed to port a Microsoft .NET-based telephony stack to Linux to support a new end-to-end business phone solution, SmartLine, while keeping development fast and the platform flexible.

Using Microsoft Corporation’s .NET Core and Visual Studio Portability Analyzer, GoDaddy migrated the solution in about six weeks. Microsoft Corporation’s technology helped the team remediate 99% of incompatibilities, and QA found no defects during exhaustive testing. The move improved speed, scalability, and production performance, and gave GoDaddy greater freedom to use Linux-based infrastructure such as Kubernetes and Docker.
