Vapiano, the global restaurant chain based in Germany, needed a more scalable IT strategy to support rapid international expansion, reduce infrastructure costs, and launch new digital guest services. Working with Microsoft Corporation and its partner Obungi, the company turned to Microsoft Azure and related services to replace difficult VPN-based access and aging on-premises systems with a more flexible cloud foundation.

Microsoft Corporation, implemented through Azure, Azure Active Directory, Office 365, and other cloud services, helped Obungi migrate Vapiano’s data warehouse, integration layer, BI tools, and key applications into a hybrid cloud environment. The result was lower storage costs, faster time to market, and new customer-facing services such as online ordering, a mobile loyalty app, and in-store kiosks, while also giving managers better real-time insights from POS and loyalty data.
