Global energy company uses Power Apps to empower its workforce on the way to digital transformation

Centrica, a global energy company in the United Kingdom, was using Microsoft Power Apps with Office 365 to build department-specific apps but needed a way to make those apps visible, supportable, and compliant with strict governance requirements. The challenge was balancing rapid app development with control, visibility, and the need to avoid “shadow IT” across a highly regulated organization.

Microsoft Corporation, through Microsoft Services, helped Centrica automate app registration and monitoring and establish a Power Apps Center of Excellence with training and governance support. As a result, Centrica created a robust governance model, reached 300 IT-compliant apps globally by November 2019, and cut app time-to-market from months to just a few days.
