Case Study: G&J Pepsi achieves greater frontline collaboration and operational efficiency with Microsoft cloud solutions

A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the G and J Pepsi Case Study

G&J Pepsi bubbles up good ideas by equipping firstline workers with secure, managed mobile devices

G and J Pepsi, the largest family-owned Pepsi bottler in the US, faced a significant challenge in bridging the digital divide between its office employees and its large frontline workforce of drivers and merchandisers. The initial solution of equipping over 1,200 field workers with iPhones created new difficulties for their IT team, which struggled to securely manage the sixfold increase in devices and integrate them with office applications. This situation hindered collaboration and operational efficiency.

To address this, Microsoft provided a solution using its Enterprise Mobility + Security suite, including Intune and Azure Active Directory. This allowed G and J Pepsi to centrally manage and secure all 2,700 devices from the cloud, enabling single sign-on for applications and over-the-air updates. The results were a dramatic increase in collaboration, improved operational excellence by ensuring all employees worked from a single source of truth, and the ability for the IT staff to manage a growing technology portfolio with a smaller team. Furthermore, the new digital foundation enabled innovative applications that opened up potential new revenue streams for the business.
