Georgia State University tackles malware with Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection

Georgia State University, a large higher education institution in the United States, was facing a steady rise in malware and phishing attacks that were overwhelming its cyber security team. To improve email security for more than 55,000 students and 6,000 faculty and staff, the university turned to Microsoft Corporation and Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection.

Microsoft Corporation implemented the cloud-based protection quickly with support from Microsoft FastTrack, adding an extra security layer for email filtering, Safe Links, and malware detection. The result was a major drop in malicious emails reaching users, with more than 2,000 harmful messages blocked over five months, while also freeing the security team to focus on other priorities.
