Game Insight, a global developer of mobile and social games, faced the challenge of managing the expensive and complex server infrastructure for its popular titles. The company had to over-provision physical servers to prevent performance lags for its 300 million players, leaving costly unused capacity during off-peak hours. To address this, they turned to Microsoft Corporation and its Microsoft Azure cloud platform, seeking a more dynamic and cost-effective solution.

By migrating its game backend to Microsoft Azure Virtual Machines with Premium Storage, Game Insight halved its server count while gaining automatic scaling and fail-safe reliability. The solution, built on an open-source LAMP stack, allowed the company to adjust server capacity in near-real time to meet gameplay demands. This resulted in significant cost savings from reduced over-provisioning and a more robust, automated infrastructure that required far less manual intervention to maintain.
