Finnish IT services provider builds employee collaboration with Microsoft workflow automation

Sulava Ltd., a Finnish IT services provider, wanted a better way to keep its largely mobile employees connected while preserving workplace flexibility. Chief Research Officer Jussi Roine turned to Microsoft Corporation and Microsoft Flow, along with SharePoint Online, Power BI, Azure Functions, and Azure Functions-based automation, to help staff share their locations and schedules without heavy custom development.

Microsoft Corporation helped Sulava build a check-in solution where employees can tap a mobile button to send location data, which is stored in SharePoint Online, enriched through Azure Functions, and visualized in Power BI. The system was prototyped and built in about two days, and it improved cross-company collaboration, made resourcing easier, and helped Sulava avoid missed opportunities by enabling employees to join last-minute customer meetings when nearby.
