A Microsoft Corporation Case Study
dv01, a U.S.-based financial technology company in banking and capital markets, needed a faster and more scalable way to power its lending analytics platform as data volume and query complexity grew. After its PostgreSQL and Redshift setup slowed down, dv01 turned to Microsoft Corporation, using SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines and later SQL Server 2017, to support rapid growth and keep analytics responsive.
Microsoft Corporation implemented SQL Server 2016 on Azure and then helped dv01 move to SQL Server 2017 on Linux to match its mostly Linux-based environment. The results were substantial: query times dropped from up to 30 seconds to 1–2 seconds, database maintenance time fell by 90 percent, storage needs were reduced by 2–3 times, and SQL Server 2017 on Linux delivered an order-of-magnitude latency improvement over PostgreSQL.
