Case Study: Ibercaja helps farmers save water with Microsoft Azure and AI

A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the Ibercaja Case Study

Financial services company Ibercaja aims to help farmers save millions of liters of water per year using Microsoft Azure and AI

Spanish banking group Ibercaja sought to diversify its services and digitally transform its business model by applying cloud and AI technologies to help its rural farming customers. The challenge was to strengthen relationships with these remote clients and provide them with innovative tools to improve their agricultural businesses. Ibercaja worked with vendor Microsoft Corporation, choosing the Microsoft Azure cloud platform and Microsoft AI Services for this initiative.

The solution, developed with Microsoft Partner Efor, was an IoT-based system using sensor boxes installed on farms. These sensors, connected to Microsoft Azure, gathered real-time data on weather and moisture, which was then analyzed with AI. This provided farmers with actionable insights to optimize watering, sowing, and harvesting, helping them save millions of liters of water per year and achieve better crop yields. For vendor Microsoft Corporation, this project successfully enhanced Ibercaja's brand image as an innovative community partner and established a big data foundation for future services.
