Epilepsy Care Alliance, a UK health provider, needed a cost-effective way to launch a new epilepsy service at Poole Hospital during the financial crisis. Working with Microsoft Corporation and using Azure, the team sought a technology-driven approach to help patients better manage their condition and support clinical care.

Microsoft Corporation implemented a solution using the Microsoft Band, a patient mobile app, and machine learning on Azure to track daily activity, detect seizures, and alert next of kin and NHS clinicians. The program is being rolled out across Dorset and is expected to help around 2,000 patients, with encouraging patient feedback and improved independence and quality of life.
