Employment firm turns to AI-powered chatbot to increase job opportunities for people with disabilities

Our Ability, an employment firm focused on increasing job opportunities for people with disabilities, was looking for a better way to connect candidates’ skills with employer needs. The organization wanted a more user-friendly, voice-enabled job search experience that could help more visitors complete profiles and engage with the service. It partnered with Microsoft Corporation and used Microsoft AI for Accessibility support to explore an AI-powered chatbot solution.

Microsoft Corporation and Microsoft Services helped Our Ability build the chatbot using Azure Bot Service, Language Services, Azure Machine Learning, and Azure Cognitive Services. The solution is designed to act as a real-time interactive job coach, helping match people with disabilities to open roles more efficiently. Microsoft Corporation’s support helped expand the project’s reach, with Our Ability expecting the chatbot to grow its employer network from around 100 companies to three or four times that number, and pilot testing was planned with manufacturing, retail, and academic organizations.
