Case Study: Willis Towers Watson achieves greater agility and security with Microsoft Corporation Azure

A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the Willis Towers Watson Case Study

Embracing the public cloud for greater agility and security

Willis Towers Watson, a global insurance and advisory company, was modernizing its Risk Software and Technology Solutions group and needed a more centralized, agile, and secure development platform. With Microsoft Corporation’s Azure and Visual Studio Team Services, the company set out to move geographically dispersed teams and infrastructure from fragmented on-premises systems to a hybrid-cloud model.

Microsoft Corporation helped Willis Towers Watson implement Azure, Azure Active Directory, Azure ExpressRoute, Azure Virtual Machines, and Visual Studio Team Services to standardize development, streamline provisioning, and strengthen security. The results included self-service environment setup in 3–4 hours instead of a two-week internal process, improved work-item tracking, and stronger protection than on-premises systems; today, 150 developers use VSTS across 45 projects, with 55 test servers and 20 production servers running in Azure.
