Electronic health record company migrates system to the cloud, accelerates growth with Azure

Xirapha Karte System Co., Ltd. is a small Japanese electronic health record provider that wanted to expand its free cloud-based EMR service, Karte ZERO, to more clinics but was constrained by the heavy operational burden and limited scalability of its previous IaaS-based platform. The company turned to Microsoft Corporation and Azure, using services such as Azure Database for MySQL, Azure Virtual Machine Scale Sets, and Azure Service Bus to support growth and reduce management complexity.

Microsoft Corporation helped Xirapha Karte System migrate Karte ZERO to Azure through hackathons and a phased migration approach, keeping the architecture stable while adding auto-scaling and PaaS capabilities. The result was a major reduction in operating costs and environment setup time, with server environment builds dropping from about a month to 3–4 days, plus the ability to absorb load spikes more efficiently and support rapid user growth.
