A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the Egyptian Radio and Television Union Case Study

Egyptian broadcaster uses Azure, open source to join digital world

The Egyptian Radio and Television Union (ERTU), one of the Middle East’s oldest broadcasters, needed to modernize its services to keep up with changing media habits and stop losing viewers, advertisers, and revenue. To do that, ERTU turned to Microsoft Corporation, using Microsoft Azure along with services such as Azure Media Services, Azure Content Delivery Network, Azure Traffic Manager, and Azure Site Recovery to build a more flexible digital platform.

Microsoft Corporation helped ERTU consolidate scattered websites into a unified portal and launch a custom video-on-demand and streaming environment with Link Datacenter and Link Development. The result was faster deployment, stable audio/video streaming, lower infrastructure and encoding costs, and new revenue opportunities; ERTU also reported a significant reduction in costs and an increase in revenues.
