To support global demand and better analyze large log datasets, the company turned to Microsoft Corporation and SQL Server 2016.

Microsoft Corporation implemented SQL Server 2016 features including enhanced clustered columnstore indexes and AlwaysOn Availability Groups to boost compression, offload read-only workloads, and simplify replication across datacenters. Stack Overflow deployed the upgrade on 11 servers in 48 hours, achieved more than 10x compression on daily data, kept months of logs on SSD, and gained faster analytics and lower infrastructure complexity.
