Data Services Company Gains Actionable Insights into Social Media with Hybrid Cloud

iTrend, a US-based data services company, faced the challenge of helping its clients gain real-time, actionable insights from the overwhelming volume of unstructured data on social media. Conventional relational databases were too costly and ill-suited for processing this high volume of text from sources like Twitter and Facebook. To address this, iTrend turned to Microsoft for a solution using the Microsoft Azure platform.

The implemented solution was a hybrid cloud model using Microsoft Azure services, including SQL Azure and Azure Web Sites, combined with an on-premises Hadoop cluster. This allowed iTrend to process massive amounts of raw data in parallel and present the analyzed information to customers through a dynamic portal.
