Varde Kommune, the public school district in Varde, Denmark, needed a simpler, more reliable technology setup to support personalized learning for 5,500 students across 21 schools. Its aging Novell-based infrastructure and BYOD approach caused frequent problems, slow logins, and too much classroom time lost to troubleshooting, so the district turned to Microsoft Corporation and Atea for help, using Microsoft Office 365, Windows 10, and Microsoft Enterprise Mobility + Security.

Microsoft Corporation helped Varde Kommune replace its on-premises servers with cloud-based identity and device management, deploy laptops to all students, and streamline access with Azure Active Directory Premium and Intune. The result was faster logins, easier access from home or school, and a big drop in support needs: IT support time was cut in half, and the savings from removing 22 servers helped fund 6,000 laptops.
