Case Study: The Walsh Group achieves zero-trust security and stronger hybrid cloud control with Microsoft Corporation

A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the The Walsh Group Case Study

Construction giant gains competitive edge with zero-trust approach to security

The Walsh Group, a large U.S. construction contractor, needed a better way to manage access after moving more of its IT to the cloud. Working with Microsoft Corporation, the company adopted a zero-trust security model centered on Microsoft Azure Active Directory, along with Microsoft 365 E5 and other security and identity tools, to strengthen control over its hybrid environment and reduce risk across job sites and systems.

Microsoft Corporation implemented a layered security solution using Azure AD conditional access, self-service password reset, Azure AD Identity Protection, Microsoft Intune, Azure Advanced Threat Protection, Microsoft Defender ATP, and Microsoft Cloud App Security. The Walsh Group gained far greater visibility into identities and applications, reduced global admin rights from about 20 to 3 or 4, and improved protection across cloud, email, and on-premises environments—helping the company secure around 100 enterprise applications and achieve a competitive advantage.
