Case Study: Daimler achieves secure, scalable connected-vehicle insights with Microsoft Corporation Azure

A Microsoft Corporation Case Study

Preview of the Daimler Case Study

Connecting Vehicles for the Long Haul

Daimler Trucks North America, part of Daimler, wanted to reduce the cost of ownership for its vehicles and improve fleet reliability by turning trucks into connected data sources. To do that, it worked with Microsoft Corporation and used Azure, Azure Event Hubs, and Azure Traffic Manager to build Detroit Connect, a connected-vehicle platform for remote diagnostics, analytics, and updates.

Microsoft Corporation helped Daimler Trucks North America create a secure, scalable solution that stores vehicle data in Azure, supports more than 200,000 trucks using Virtual Technician, and enables remote updates and analytics dashboards. The result is faster fault detection, better fuel-efficiency insights, improved uptime, and lower total operating costs through more efficient fleet management and reduced time spent manually analyzing data.
