MIFIMIEnergy, a small Serbian company, wanted to bring affordable smart home automation to DIY users without forcing them to replace existing appliances. Its AHIS startup faced the challenge of delivering a secure, reliable, and cost-effective solution for remote home monitoring and control, and it turned to Microsoft Azure and Windows 10 IoT Core as the core technologies.

Microsoft Corporation helped MIFIMIEnergy through the BizSpark+ Global Startup Program, providing Azure cloud services, support, and development resources. The AHIS solution, built with Azure, Azure SQL, Azure Service Fabric, and Windows 10 IoT Core, enabled users to set up a smart home system in about four hours, monitor homes remotely, and manage multiple devices and locations; it also grew to 25+ users in pilot testing and was later proven scalable for hotel systems.
