College inspires design students with creativity-enhancing devices

Marquette University, a large higher education institution, needed to replace the Apple iMacs in its Wakerly Media Lab with technology that better supported creativity, fit the lab’s space, and delivered stronger value for students in design, media, and communication programs. The school chose Microsoft Corporation’s Surface Studio, looking for a more natural, hands-on creative experience with features like touch, Surface Pen, and a flexible hinge.

Microsoft Corporation implemented Surface Studio across the lab, giving students and faculty a powerful all-in-one device with a large display, compact footprint, and support for creative workflows in Adobe tools. The result was a more engaging and versatile design environment for about 950 undergraduates plus graduate students, with easier drawing, better handling of video/photo editing, and improved connectivity through USB, Ethernet, and SD card support. The university also found the solution offered better price-to-value than alternatives that required costly peripherals.
