A Microsoft Corporation Case Study
Cloverleaf, a U.S.-based medium-sized professional services company, wanted to help brick-and-mortar retailers compete with online shopping by making in-store marketing more engaging and effective. Its challenge was to capture shopper attention, deliver personalized content in real time, and do so with an affordable, easy-to-retrofit solution; Microsoft Corporation’s Windows 10 IoT and Azure IoT solution accelerators were chosen to power the effort.
Microsoft Corporation helped Cloverleaf build shelfPoint, an interactive digital signage system that uses shelf-mounted LCD displays, sensors, cloud analytics, and dynamic content to respond to shoppers as they move through stores. In pilot studies with grocery, convenience, and pharmacy retailers, the solution drove profits up by about 40% and increased shopper engagement by 500%, helping retailers promote higher-margin products and improve sales without changing existing store layouts.
