Cloud Flexibility for a Global Vessel Monitoring Solution

EMA, a Slovenian IT company and developer of the BlueTraker vessel monitoring solution, faced challenges with its previous cloud infrastructure from Rackspace. The inflexible environment lacked easy capacity scaling and the company was managing a dual development platform of .NET and Java. EMA partnered with Microsoft to migrate its solution to the Microsoft Azure platform, seeking greater flexibility and reduced operational costs.

By working with Microsoft partner Inovis, EMA migrated its application to Microsoft Azure, adopting a platform-as-a-service model and unifying its solution on the .NET framework. This migration resulted in operational costs that were 50 percent lower. The company estimates its time-to-ROI was reduced by 20 percent and gained the ability to dynamically scale its infrastructure. The move to Microsoft Azure also simplified service management and improved global access for its customers.
